Absinthe Wormwood

Absinthe Wormwood is a perennial weed which has become an increasing problem in Vulcan County. It is an invasive species native to Europe and Asia and has become naturalized across Canada and the northern USA. This plant can develop an extensive root system and is a prolific seed producer, the seeds can remain viable for 3-4 years. Absinthe Wormwood grows well in disturbed areas, abandoned cultivation, and from too early or heavily grazed grassland areas. This plant requires disturbance to establish, healthy pastures are usually free of this plant. It can be easily controlled by herbicides. This plant is quite noticeable so if you find this plant on your land take quick measures to control or eradicate it before it can get established.
